Who We Are & What We Do
Wonderland Urban Agriculture Center (WUAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through sustainable urban agriculture, environmental stewardship, education, research, and collaborative partnerships. Serving as an urban agriculture center, teaching farm, and community learning hub, WUAC develops innovative, evidence-informed programs that improve food security, promote public health, reduce environmental waste, and cultivate resilient local food systems.
WUAC believes that thriving communities are built through education, collaboration, and responsible stewardship of natural resources. By combining hands-on learning with research, demonstration, and community engagement, the organization equips individuals, families, schools, and community partners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to grow food, improve nutrition, conserve resources, and create healthier, more sustainable communities.
The organization’s work is organized through five integrated program portfolios that address the interconnected challenges of food production, nutrition, education, environmental sustainability, and community health. Through SHIFT, WUAC advances sustainable farming and grower education; FENCE promotes food literacy, nutrition, culinary education, and Indigenous food knowledge; WISP inspires future environmental leaders through experiential STEAM education; FLOWS develops circular food systems that transform organic waste into valuable community resources; and ROOTS advances preventive health and well-being through therapeutic horticulture, nature-based education, and community wellness initiatives.
As WUAC continues to grow, it remains committed to serving as a trusted community partner, demonstration site, and center for innovation where sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, public health, and lifelong learning come together to create lasting community impact. Through strategic partnerships with schools, universities, healthcare organizations, government agencies, nonprofits, and the private sector, WUAC seeks to develop practical solutions that improve quality of life and strengthen community resilience for generations to come.
